Women's Issues

Inside you will find access to information about women's issues such as promoting gender equality, empowering women, improving women's health and what civil society and the international community is doing to address these critical issues.

Women have a special role in Islamic society. Learn how MWC, a faith-based organization, can address women's issues at a micro and macro level from an Islamic perspective. An MWC exclusive, Women Care for Women's Wellbeing is an educational series of lectures and workshops for women that address issues like women's health.

Read about women from our Islamic heritage who have been role models for centuries and who continue to inspire us today. A Portrait of a Muslim Woman, an MWC exclusive, is a snapshot of Muslim women activists, leaders of international organizations, and artists who are actively changing the world we live in today.

Education

MWC aspires to establish a congenial atmosphere where workshops and training allow Muslim women and youth from all sects, races and ethnicities to learn about role models from our Islamic heritage, such as Sayedna Fatimah tuh Zahra, the daughter of Prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessings be upon him and his family) whose characteristics can be applied in one’s life. We also hope to define commonalities within Islam and other faith traditions in interfaith dialogues while honoring our own beliefs. Finally, we hope to celebrate the colorful cultures within Islam through educational programming.

Inside you will find information about interfaith events such as our annual program Day of Prayers, interfaith and cross-cultural interactions within the community such as attending local and international conferences, mawlud events and workshops on Islam.

Assisting in local and international communal welfare through innovative programs that are inspired by the Holy Quran and the practices of Prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and his companions.

Muslim Women's Coalition is a non-profit (non-political) organization so that we may help others in their need without any distinction in religion, race or ethnicity.  MWC’s local office helps connects its resources with its community such as those who are less fortunate to be blessed by the warmth of a home, love of a family or a meal three times a day.
